Well this is more like July weather. 97oF, 20% humidity and a 7mph breeze. That is a heat index of 94o. The rest of the week is supposed to continue being hot. Boat race weekend is usually the hottest time of the summer. The races are this weekend. So we can look forward to cooler weather in a few weeks.

Wow, we got some rain! Had a t-storm last evening that dropped some marble-sized hail, but rain also. Then overnight we heard thunder, and woke up today with rain falling for a half hour or so. A MOST welcome sight and sound! And today's temp was only about 75, so that was enjoyable too. Warming up again tomorrow, going into the 90s again by Saturday.

well we have gotten a reprieve from the scorching heat for a few days. We had 2/10th of an inch of rain this AM and has been overcast all day with a high of 73. Much nicer than the 94 on Tuesday. The weatherman this morning said we had 15 days of 90 degree weather for July and we are 2 inches under normal for precipitation this month.

We only got up to 100o today. Humidity at 9% and a 16 mph breeze. That is just hot air blowing on you, not refreshing at all.

Your nose and eyes dry out and you can't drink enough. It doesn't take much to get a fire started.

I just looked at the Weatherchannel.com and it says we've had 1.07 inches of rain this week, and are at 1.83 for the month. I will admit that we had a couple t-storms move thru this past week, but I can't imagine where they measured 1.07 inches! There sure wasn't anywhere near that much at my house!

Gee whiz, I'd think at 9% that fields and prairies would almost spontaneously combust!!! Think that you jinked us. Surprisingly we had not any real fires this summer. Last night I thought I smelled wildfire smoke. This morning my car was covered with burned sagebrush fiber and you can not see the sun through all the smoke in the basin. Just checked the news. "Wildfire closes I-84 in both directions east of Pendleton." and "A large wildfire is burning toward the Hanford nuclear reservation after spreading from Grant and Yakima counties into Benton County overnight Saturday." So from the southeast and from the north and the west.
www.tri-cityherald.com/news/local/hanford/article92931342.html Looks like this fire was only about three miles away on the other side of Rattlesnake.

We had gotten only 2/10 of an inch of rain on Saturday morning. Cloudy and overcast all day, then about 8:30pm it started to rain with a little thunder and lightening. It lasted off and on all night. It quit around 6:30am Sunday morning and we had another 2.7 inches. What a blessing. We really needed it. Today it is kind of cloudy and warmer, kind of muggy, high of 83. Tomorrow night they are calling for more rain. The grass is starting to green up a bit again.

Happy to hear that for you, Ginny. How's the corn growing? Do you still set up the roadside stand?

We've been running mostly 90s for the last week or more. Today is supposed to only reach 78! But the sun is still shining and it's a bit breezy...and the breeze actually feels cool! Will be a nice day of respite from the heat.

The last couple of days it has been hot and stifling. In the low 90's and no breeze. Tomorrow we are to have scattered thunderstorms. Then a cooling over the weekend. Been swimming each day with the grandsons. The pool was 86 today.
