Had a couple inches of snow last weekend and another yesterday. Temp tomorrow is to be low 50s! Then two days of low 40s and then another 50 followed by a bunch of upper 30s. Gotta love late fall weather...NOT!

Last night I was watching the weather report from the TV station in Spokane. They were talking as if it was the end of the world with their record snowfall. They got a total of 6.5 inches. Meanwhile 145 miles south, we had a dusting, not enough to cover the sidewalk.
It is a bit chilly, 32o with the forecast showing 29o to 32o for the highs for thee next two weeks. Very low chance of any snow.

Hermiston Raceway was 55 and sunny today, looking race ready!
Meanwhile, just 30 miles away Tri-City Raceway was 32 and a winter wonderland.
Looks like I don't need to drive that far south to get out of this ice and snow.

My brother, when he lived in southern California, told me he loved that he could drive an hour and a half east and be in the snowy mountains, or drive the same time west and be at the beach. You seem to have even less travel time than that!
We're heading into a 2-week forecast period of highs in the 30s but not much chance of snow. Lows mostly in lower teens with a couple single digits.

Today's high is 15o with wind at 16 mph. That is a "feels like" of 1o. Tomorrow is forecast to be colder. The historical average for mid December is 38o here. If we live through this it is supposed to be up to the 40s next week. Over in Butte it is currently -18o with a -38o tomorrow. Did my share of time in Butte when it was -35o to -40o. Can't change the weather so we just have to stay indoors and wait until it warms up.

That's what you get for choosing to live so far north!
No, seriously, I feel for everyone being affected by this storm. I read this morning that Casper, WY hit -42, a new record for them. At the present time in Gillette it's -19. I'm embarrassed to say that we are currently +26 here in Montrose. Our forecast has us in the 30s and 40s for the two-week period.

This morning it was -39o in Butte. Wind chill in Bozeman was -62o. Today we got up to 10o, with 15 mph winds, so we were a bit warmer. But when you are spending most of the day outdoors trying to fix frozen water pipes, 10o is cold. I am still trying to warm up.

It warmed up to 12o today but no wind. It has been snowing off and on all day and more expected tonight. Usually we just get a dusting of snow that stays for a day or two. This has been on the ground for almost two weeks. It will be a white Christmas.
No more problems with frozen water lines. Most of our winds come from the SW but this storm came from the NE. The vent on the NE corner of the crawl space under the house, right under the water heater, had opened up. Only lost the hot water. It was good when I went to bed around midnight but at 9 am no water so probably not a solid freeze.
Tomorrow it is forecast to warm up to 22o.

Frozen pipes are a pain. Burst pipes are a disaster. Glad you didn't have one of those! Stay safe and warm.

It is now 20o and raining. Just came home from lunch with a friend. The rain was freezing on the windshield and the wipers couldn't do anything. Had to pull over twice in the five mile drive to scrap the windshield enough to see. Have never seen rain at this temperature. Snow would be much better. No way can you get me out of the house the remainder of the day.
Forecast shows temps up to 30o for the next day with continued rain. This is the reason you should always have supplies in your home for at least several days.

Yesterday the temperature got up to 32o with winds less than 10mph. It rained off and on most of the day and over night. The weather app on my phone says we have had 3.35 inches of rain in the past 24 hours. That is about half of our normal annual rain. Today it got up to 54o with winds of 55 mph and gusts much higher. Today was trash pick up day. I think I see my trash can a couple houses down the road. Will track it down after the winds stop. Most of the snow is gone though my driveway where I have packed down the snow for the past two weeks is solid ice. The driveway is about 80 feet out to the street.
Tomorrow it is supposed to be up around 50o then a week in the mid 30s. The historical average for late December here is 34o. Would like to see some normal winter weather.

I guess you're lucky you don't get lake-effect snow like Buffalo, NY. But still, freezing rain makes it own forms of misery. Glad you understand survival in extreme and unusual weather.
We've been mostly 40s for highs, but this week supposed to drop to 30s with some snow and rain.

There is no sun. The belief that there is a sun is a false memory. We have had thick fog all day, not even a bright spot in the sky. Today's high was 35o with no wind (2mph) But that 99% humidity makes it a cold that goes to your bones.

We still believe in the sun because we do see proof of it now and then...during occasional breaks in the clouds. Yeah, we have had days on end of cloudy sky and very little moisture to make up for it, although we did have about 3/4" of snow today. Kinda like bruising your shin...no blood to make up for the pain! It looks like we might start seeing a bit more sun now that the storms are slackening off in CA.
You're sure right on the chill factor of high humidity!! It even affects you indoors whereas the wind doesn't.

The last 3 mornings we've woken up to just a thin layer of snow and temps in the low to mid 20s. By afternoon it's melted. It is moisture, but not a good soaking like we need. But the ground is frozen, so a heavy wet snow wouldn't soak in anyway.
We're supposed to go up into the 40s for a day or two over the weekend, then back to the 30s. We are getting tired of the gray days though! Need more sun for mental health!
