Dega is the longest NASCAR oval, with a length of 2.66 miles, compared to the Daytona International Speedway, which is 2.5 miles. The track opened on September 13, 1969. In the first race at the track, all the original drivers abandoned the track due to tire problems. Substitute drivers were hired for the race with the winner being Richard Brickhouse.
Speeds in excess of 200 mph are commonplace at Talladega. Talladega has the record for the fastest recorded time by a NASCAR vehicle on a closed oval course, with the record of 216.309 mph set by Rusty Wallace on June 9, 2004. Since 1988, restrictor plates have been required at Talladega and Daytona.
Known as the most common track for "the Big One" by fans and drivers. It is uncommon, but possible, to see 20 or more cars collected in the crashes.
Pick your favorite five to complete this race.

With the number of wrecks at many Talladega races, there has to be some luck in staying out of the Big One and any of the other wrecks. Then your car has to hold up to the stress of racing. If the stars line up and you make it to the last couple laps then you must have the talent.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . Congratulations diane44fan
. . . . . . . . . . . . . Forth win of the season
. . . . . . . . . . . . . Who would have thought that both Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell would place in the top 5? . . . . . . . . . . . . . Your strategy of sticking with your drivers payed off.
