Raine and I have bought a new home in Montrose! This is another step forward to likely living here full time somewhere in the future.
It is a 4-bed, 2-bath home built in 1997. It's about a mile northeast of our current place. Has a 2-car garage with lots of shelving. The yard is totally zeroscaped with gravel, which pleases me...no grass to care for in my old age. There is a bunch of trees, but I got a leaf blower for Christmas. Raine is happy that we'll have room to welcome guests. It has a gas fireplace in addition to hot-water floor heat. It comes with all appliances including laundry. It's just shy of 1800 square feet. And the icing on the cake...the neighborhood mail box unit is right across the street!
We will close in about a month. We're assured our current place will easily sell as the market for starter homes is very good.
Looking forward to settling in. I'm sure come spring I'll have to drag Raine kicking and screaming to Gillette!!

Sounds like a nice home. Less yard work will be a real plus.

I lied, I lied!! It's a 3-bed, not 4. I'm so embarrassed! Oh well, everything else I said is true.

Things are moving ahead. We close on the new house next Friday, the 29th.
We got this old house sold. Listed it one day and had 2 offers within 24 hours! We accepted the cash offer and believe the buyer is going to make it a rental. We close on it on Feb 25 or thereabouts.
So that gives us almost a month to get moved out of here and get things cleaned up in both places...before we move into the new and after we leave the old.

Well, the deal on selling our current house fell through. The guy came and did his own inspection and found an issue in the crawl space that he didn't want to deal with. There's some leaning floor support boards that will take me maybe a couple hours to fix. But he didn't want to deal with it and cancelled the sale.
So we have to list it again. Our realtor assures us it should sell quickly again, but we'll see what happens. Meanwhile we close on our new place the day after tomorrow!
UPDATE: We've moved the closing to Feb 9 since we don't have a positive sale for this current house. Hopefully we'll get a buyer before closing on the new one.

Well, we're under contract again. Got a single first-time home buyer who is trying to get a loan. We're hoping and praying this goes through so we can apply the funds to our new place! Closing is set for around March 15.

Today was moving day! Monica and Joe rounded up some friends, Joe borrowed the delivery truck from the appliance store where he works, and we all lifted and groaned and got the move accomplished in about 3 hours. Raine & I and Monica & Joe had been hauling stuff over since we closed the sale on Feb 9. We had most of the small stuff here by today, so it was mainly moving just the large stuff. All appliances except our freezer stayed there, so the heaviest thing was the love seat/sleeper bed. But the truck has a hydraulic lift gate. so getting things into the truck was easy.
We still have a few things in the old house, but have quite awhile to remove them and get the place cleaned up. We are already settling in and are feeling quite at home.
I will try to make chat tomorrow, but not sure. If I don't make it, have a GR8 week!
