I have been posting too much about fires and smoke in the weather thread so I am starting a new one.
On 11 August they had a fire start just south of Kennewick. They didn't have enough firefighters and the wind was blowing around 25mph so they had to ask homeowners to return home and help fight the fire. The fire is still burning. It is now about two miles south of town and no homes are in the path. Here is a short video from the day the fire started.

Current smoke map:
Almost all of these fires are natural caused. In late summer we get a lot of dry thunderstorms.

Because of the wetter than normal summer we're having (as I explained int the "how's your weather" post), we aren't yet having any serious fires in my area. But we are getting smoke from all the other fires. It's being a really bad year in lots of the west. Prayers for all those affected, especially those who are losing homes and lives!
And yet, as so much of the world suffers drought, other areas are having too much rain and are being flooded! There just doesn't seem to be a happy medium...except here in my corner of the world. All is well here in NE Wyoming.
