Kasey hasn't been competitive for a number of years, so it is time, even though he is only 38.
Elliott has had a good career even though the Cup series wasn't the best for him. 43 is around the age where most drivers think about retirement.
Both sound comfortable with their decisions.
Kasey is the last of the Northwest drivers, though there is a chance we will still see Cope on the track occasionally.

It makes my heart sad to see Elliott retire. The last thread to the team of Jarrett and Sadler.... I am sure his family will love having him home more.

From what I read they are retiring from full time, not leaving all together. I really would love to see Elliott get an Xfinity Championship this year, he so deserves it!
