Want to share this but not sure where. The Thought for the Day thread doesn't feel quite right.
As many of you know my nephew cut off his thumb six weeks ago. He is making great progress. He already can touch each of his fingertips with his thumb. He was lacing his own boots less than three days out of surgery, one handed. His attitude is out of this world. Here is something he wrote today.
Sometime's the thought of digging the hole is more stressful than the actual work of digging it. Seems you always remember the last hole you dug ! All them dadgum rocks , the hard soil and the summer heat beating down on your back. Than all of a sudden here you are 22" down in nice top soil and the hole is done. Looks like there was nothing to worry about. I guess the moral of my hole digging tonight is don't dwell one the past holes in your life and let them worry you about the one your digging now. Take it one shovel full at a time. Who knows it might just end up being easy digging like the one I just dug π 22" of sweet sweet topsoil

I'm sure we've all faced those "holes" in our lives, where it's just pure effort to make ourselves get started, and then it turns out to be way easier than we imagined. Sure, some are as bad, or worse, but we'll never know unless we make the attempt. Many times I've dreaded doing a job, and no matter if it was easy or hard, when I was done, I was very glad that I had done it.
He sure has a GR8 attitude, Ilene. I need to learn to be more like him!

Glad to hear he has such a wonderful outlook on his life after the loss and that he is making good progress in recovery.

Shawn's latest update, 2 April.
60 short days ago I stood alone in the shop, hand mangled, blood pouring out if my wounds . looking at my hand thinking well looks like I'm going two have 2 fingers now. Decided than no matter the outcome I wasn't gonna let it hold me back. Well folks with Gods grace and a lot of caring people and tons of prayers here I am. My hand is doing awesome. Fingers bend, feeling back in all of them and I can even hold my coffee cup again. π God is great. Before long she'll be as good as new. Hot diggity . every day is so exciting !!

To me one of the things that is truly amazing is that I still think of him as this skinny, long curly haired wild teenager that was always fighting his father. He still is skinny but he is now almost bald with a long wild beard. He is now a down to earth 44 year old man that will help anyone in need and loves his honey bees. In some ways this accident was a blessing in his path to being a better human.

Shawn's latest update on his hand.
Well....had PT today. Hand is doing good, so good in fact that he feels there's no need for me to continue with going in to see him. From here on out I'm the physical therapist. So amazing the power God has to heal. The strength he gives you to continue when some days you just really don't want to. Thank you to all my friends, family, doctors, therpist, nurses, cops, EMTs and all not mentioned for your prayers, your kind thoughts and words along this ride. Thank you most to the heavenly father for putting all of you in my life and blessing me with his love.

Six month update.
Stitches are all gone bones are healed and the scars are hardly noticeable. Its so amazing to me HOW FAST it's healing. That much destruction and here I am able to use it again so soon. Running chainsaws and chipping guns at work, going thru my beehives and picking up frames. Even went kayaking a couple times this year.

This is nothing short of fantastic. I believe the Lord sent him the best doctors and caregivers. I'm so happy for him. It's miraculous what docs can do these days, and it just keeps getting better.
