Think about it: if just ONE of those people in that church had been armed..........

If it hadn't been in a gun free zone and it had been in MT, ID, WY or TX someone would have been armed.

Do you think Jesus would have packed heat?

Fire21, I just knew the Kenyan-Muslim couldn't wait to make this another political "football" during his speech about this very sad event. I knew as soon as I heard the news about the shooting, he would launch into another attack on our 2nd Amendment rights, once again.
I guess he can talk like that when he, his rich Hollywood friends, and his family are surrounded by armed Secret Service or paid body guards 24/7. The rest of us have to be our own............body guards. I just renewed my concealed carry permit, for the third time. How about you, Fire, Sandstorm and MT?
Wonder why these mass shootings always happen in areas where armed citizens are not allowed? You know like gun-free zones?
I know of one church in my area, a very large church at that, who actually has an armed, trained, "take-down" team in place, in their congregation every Sunday. They are always armed and trained by professionals several times each year. Sadly, looks as though this is the new..........."norm!" I am sure they all pray they never have to use their skills with their firearms; however, I know they will lay down their lives to protect their church members. One of the armed-members is a good friend of mine.
In this day & time, Jesus would be packin' or.............his congregation would be, to protect Him and his followers during a church meeting or service.

Do you think Jesus would have packed heat? Jesus packed "heat" in His eyes...he could stare down demons and cast them out without a word. The rest of us aren't that blessed. We have to face evil in today's world the best we can, be it ISIS or the neighborhood mass murderer.
I pray that God will recognize those of us who believe, and that He will have mercy on this world.

It's my personal opinion that Jesus would have not packed heat. If someone slaps you he says to turn the other cheek. I surely want to continue to have the right to bear arms but Jesus would probably see it differently. Do we not have the same power available to us as Jesus had? Will God not sustain us? I know the world is getting to be rough but isn't that what the Bible predicted? We aren't in heaven yet. God already has mercy on this world but it's us that has turned away from him not the other way around. We reap what we sow and we have been sowing some bad stuff.

I absolutely agree, Randy, that we reap what we sow, and that we are the ones who walk away from God. Considering just our country, the United States has done a lot of walking away the last few decades.
Jesus showed anger, basically "packing heat" when He ran the money changers from the temple. Anger is justifiable when circumstances are right. Self defense is justifiable when turning the other cheek is no longer a viable option. When someone is shooting people, and you're one of them that's being targeted, I believe that Jesus would authorize use of a weapon, be it a gun, knife, hammer or whatever, to defend yourself and others. Killing to stop killing?...yes, I believe that Jesus would allow it.

They beat him and beat him and beat him and hung him on a cross and he never lifted a finger.

The Christian teaching is that Jesus was human AND divine. All things are possible through God, including sacrificing His Son for the sake of all of us. We humans don't have that divine intervention. Granted, there are people who would be able to suffer those tortures and not retaliate. I am not one of them despite my love of my fellow man and adoration of our God. I pray I would be strong enough to withstand torture for the love of God, but it would take His support.
If the whole human race would recognize Jesus for who He was and is, and pray and beg for His forgiveness, then we would see a turnaround in human behavior. We would see wars stop and killing stop and stealing stop. We would see love conquer all. But the human race isn't doing that. We as a whole are moving farther from Him. We are no longer receiving the blessings He used to send on His people because we are, more and more every day, abandoning Him.
As we read in the Old Testament, when the Israelites drifted from God, He punished them in various ways. America was founded on Christian principles. The majority of us don't follow those ideals anymore, and perhaps what we're seeing is a punishment.
